Jair Bolsonaro, candidate for reelection to the Presidency of the Republic for the PL, guaranteed that he will increase the minimum wage above inflation for retirees, pensioners and public servants in 2023. The announcement was made on Friday, October 21st and was released through a video on the candidate's social media, where he usually makes his announcements.
"We've fixed Brazil's economy. We're raising a lot of money. Therefore, starting next year, we guarantee to give all retirees and pensioners a raise above inflation. The same goes for public servants, granting a raise above inflation next year," stated Jair Bolsonaro.
In his speech, Bolsonaro guaranteed that the minimum wage will also receive an increase above the inflation rate, which will guarantee a real gain for workers.
"And what about the minimum wage? It will also be adjusted above inflation," Bolsonaro stated, crediting the opposition with the information that the government would act in the opposite direction: "This is our commitment and the truth. Adjusted public finances give us the certainty and the guarantee of serving all of you, which is what you deserve."
The reelection candidate's campaign also released a video with Economy Minister Paulo Guedes, guaranteeing that there will be protection for salary adjustments, retirements, and pensions.
"Workers, retirees, and pensioners, rest assured that you will continue to be protected against inflation. Even during the war and the pandemic, we have always raised the minimum wage, pensions, and retirement benefits. We guarantee that we will preserve the purchasing power of the minimum wage, pensions, and benefits," said Paulo Guedes, Minister of Economy.
